Description: This WW2 US Army USGI Style Colt M1911 M1911A1 .45 7 Round Pistol Magazine is in good, clean condition overall but does show expected signs of wear and use. The top of the magazine's floorplate is stamped with an "N" and it is uncertain when and where production took place. Of particular interest, a similar "N" stamp was found on a steel buckle on the waist strap of a WW2 US Army M1942 Mountain Rucksack on hand and a photograph of this stamp has been included in this listing for comparative purposes. The witness hole pattern is incongruent with USGI standards and this could indicate commercial production. The blued finish is strong and similar to genuine USGI examples. The rounded magazine follower is not standard USGI spec and could be another indicator of commercial production. As the "N" stamp does not represent a known Wartime manufacturer of 1911 magazines it must be considered "USGI Style" instead of official issue. The standardization of the many of the "Mil-Spec" features of the 1911 magazine occurred Post-WW2 and during the War many contractors were employed to rush out War Materiel. Inconsistencies amongst field gear produced during this time can sometimes be detected and this magazine, and it's mysterious stamp, certainly raise interesting points of speculation.
